You’re Invited: Join Our Security Workshop That Will Change How You See Risk in a Corporate Company

You may have already seen on my feed that we’ll be hosting a Security Workshop on the 26th and 27th of February. This is the first in a series of ten workshops we’re planning. The reason? The number of questions about Security Risk Assessments how to do them, and what they really mean has grown tremendously.

A proper security risk assessment cannot be learned in a single day. That’s why we’ll focus on the 10 biggest mistakes that corporate companies make regarding security. This workshop will serve as a foundation to help you rethink risk, communication, and decision-making within your organization.

What We’ll Cover

We will be interactive, practical, and eye-opening. We won’t just talk; rather, we’ll discuss, question, and analyze together. Here’s what to expect:

  • The importance of willpower in security, and why poor communication often causes system failures.
  • The most common mistake is designing a control room that’s too small or poorly planned, often discovered only halfway through construction.
  • How training and maintenance are key components of long-term security success.
  • An exploration of the risk matrix, a tool that shows how much crime and risk an organization is willing to accept, sometimes unknowingly.
  • What crime really is, how it can be prevented, and the difference between crime hardware and real security.
  • Real-life examples from major South African companies that spent heavily on security hardware but still fell victim to crime.
  • Dissecting actual crime scenes and management failures to understand what happens when systems do their job, but crime still occurs.
  • The three-man chessboard is a powerful analogy to illustrate how risks interact and how decisions influence multiple outcomes.
3 man chess by . Why This Workshop Matters

Security methods have remained largely unchanged for over 60 years. Equipment has become better, smarter, and faster, yet the fundamental techniques and thought processes stay the same. But the latest crime statistics show this traditional approach is failing us.

As Einstein famously said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.”  That’s exactly what’s happening in security today.

This workshop aims to change that. It’s about understanding what truly drives failure, looking at risk from a new perspective, and applying logic and insight not just technology, to protect people, property, and data.

Who Should Attend

We especially recommend business owners and decision-makers. These are the people responsible for security-related decisions. Often, companies send the wrong representatives to gather information, leading to missed or misunderstood details.

Attendance is limited to 20 people per day to ensure everyone can fully participate, ask questions, and engage in open discussions. There will be snacks and breaks so you can process information and exchange ideas comfortably.

Everyone who joins will receive a free e-book, The 10 Risk Mistakes Every Company Makes

Why Learn from Us

With over 40 years of experience in the security industry and nearly 20 years specializing in Security Risk Assessments, I’ve studied more security systems and management approaches than most. At Alwinco, we’ve seen it all: every mistake, success, and missed opportunity. This workshop is built on real-world experience, not theory.

A Final Word

Attending this workshop won’t just give you notes; you’ll gain a new way to think about security. You’ll understand how to make smarter, more informed decisions. Most importantly, you’ll see why independent security risk assessments are the foundation of measurable protection.

We aren’t here to sell products or promote systems. Our goal is to share knowledge, open your eyes to how risk truly works, and help you take control of your organization’s safety.

Compared to other workshops or conferences, our fee is only a small fraction of their cost, mainly to cover the venue.

I invite you to join us on 26th and 27th February. I promise you won’t leave empty-handed.

Until then, all the best! I look forward to seeing you there.
